We tagged along to Minneapolis with two of our closest friends in October 2023. They had planned this trip for a while as they were attending a concert that weekend. I thought nothing of it as Austin and I decided to go last minute and do our thing. Little did I know, the three of them had kept the sweetest surprise from me the entire day. After a casual supper downtown we stopped by a friend's condo for some drinks. We venture to the lounge on the 27th floor to take pictures in front of the beautiful Minneapolis night skyline. Austin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with the most beautiful ring! Even more special, our friend Kelsey at Royal Jewelers helped pick out my dream ring with my man!
We had been friends for years before we started dating because my best friend was dating Adam's brother, the couple known as The Sam's. We ended up spending a lot of time with the Sam's as well as each other over the years. We went on Spring break with his brother and soon to be wife, helped get the wedding venue ready for his brother's wedding in 2018, to BWCA 3 years in a row, and went to each other's house parties. In 2020 we decided to try dating since we were really got to know each other over the past 3-4 years. The entire time we were friends he had a crush on me and I knew about it. I was worried if we dated and broke up that I'd lose my best friend because she married Adam's brother. I'm not about drama or having friends pick a side.
On December 12th, 2021 we went for a hike at MB Johnson park with our dogs. We were at a really pretty place along the Red River when we paused to take in the view. His dog, Fez, took this opportunity to puke right on the trail. We looked at each other and laughed before clearing it off the trail. We continued hiking and were in a more wooded area. At this point he stops me and starts with, "Well now that we are away from the puke..." and asked me to marry him. I of course said, "Yes, a thousand times yes!" Then we waited to tell family until we celebrated Christmas with each of them over the next 3 weekends. It was not easy to keep it a secret from them especially since my best friend was going to become my sister!
Sometimes people do get out of the friendzone. Be patient and genuine to yourself and whoever you are interested in.
After spending Christmas with each of our families, we came back to our home to relax and exchange our gifts with one another. Warren had the idea of bundling up and going for a walk to look at Christmas lights! It was a beautiful winter evening, the snow was lightly falling and not a breeze of wind. It was the perfect way to unwind after a hectic few days. We returned back to our home and before we walked in, Warren asked me to marry him on our front porch!
Our engagement story was anything but smooth! Right before the pandemic hit the US in March, Jonathon and I vacationed in Arizona- which happens to be my favorite place. Jonathon had a plan to propose on our hike up Camelback mountain and we got almost to the top and I started to feel not well and asked to go back down. I ruined plan A. Then we had planned to go a spring training game the next day where Jonathon thought about making it plan B but it got RAINED out in Arizona?! Then on our final day of our trip we went on a nice stroll where we could overlook some neighboring mountains and he surprised me on this bridge with the most beautiful ring. He was finally able to ask me to be his bride! Looking back I am glad that it turned out the way it did so we don’t have to climb a mountain to go back to where we got engaged!
It is a week before Christmas and Mark is sneaking around trying to find a ring without tipping Kayla off. She knows he is looking, but doesn’t know that with a lot of help from God, the ring has been found and is already in hand. So a nice at home supper is arranged and after supper, Mark takes Kayla out to do one of her favorite Christmas activities, looking at Christmas lights. They drove through town looking for the very best Christmas light displays and spotted some shifty, potentially homicidal, penguins that appeared to be removing the head of a snowman! After slowly working their way through the city, they ended up at Lindenwood and drove through, looking at lights and just enjoying the night and some Christmas music. Then at the end of the evening, instead of heading straight home, Mark promised to show Kayla a special light project he had “helped” his dad with. Mark had worked on the lights a week ago, and gotten off work early that afternoon to go set them up and get them ready and working. So he drove her out to a spot they had visited before (and where Mark had tried to ask her out once, but butchered it so badly she didn’t even know he was trying to ask her out!). Well this time, Mark made sure to be extremely clear about his intentions! When they got there and Mark plugged in the lights, they featured a heart and a diamond ring. He then told Kayla how much she meant to him, and asked her to marry him. God showed he was watching over them once more and almost as soon as she said yes, a fuse blew and the lights went out! Whew, that was close!
Matthew and Megan met at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN during their Sophomore Year in Organic Chemistry. They started dating on November 7th, 2014. After graduating from college together in 2016, Megan started Chiropractic School and Matthew started Medical School. Megan graduated in April of 2020 (yay COVID graduation) and Matthew will graduate in May 2021.
On July 26th, 2020 Matthew popped the question! That morning without knowing Matthew’s plans for the day, Megan wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee together on the dock at Matthew’s parents' lake cabin on Clitherall Lake. They talked about the next year of their lives and all the fun things they would do together. Then they set out for a bike ride to Glendalough State Park, however, it was no easy journey to get there... Of course, during this time of year, road construction is inevitable. Determined, they ventured through the construction with the beautiful bike paths of Glendalough on their minds but had to turn back. Matthew was adamant about getting there anyway, so he said we could take the highway to the entrance. They biked down the highway and made it to Glendalough in one piece, exploring the trails and enjoying the summer day. Matthew wanted to stop a few places along the way but Megan insisted they keep going! They enjoyed all the beautiful sights of Minnesota. Matthew finally convinced Megan to stop at Prairie Hill Trail where he got off his bike, sneakily grabbed the ring, and put it in his pocket. They locked up their bikes and sat down at a picnic table taking in the scenery. Matthew then began to tell Megan how much he loved her and how happy he was to be with her. He grabbed the ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked Megan to marry him. Of course, she shed a few happy tears and maybe threw in a “thank you” before she said “YES!” They continued their bike ride back through the road construction this time instead of the highway. Then they went back to Clitherall to tell Matthew’s parents the good news! They had prepared a champagne toast! After FaceTiming Megan’s family, they all went back to Fargo for a celebratory engagement dinner at Porter Creek! It was a day to remember! :)
Jacob proposed to Kristen in early spring, the day before her birthday. Jacob planned a romantic walk on the trails of Buffalo State Park, something they frequently enjoyed doing together. Being a sentimental and traditional guy, Jacob got on one knee and proposed as the river flowed by them.
Brady and I have known each other since we were in Kindergarten! He asked me to be his girlfriend when we were in just 7th grade and we have been together for almost 10 years now. His world revolves around farming and we recently purchased a house surround by his family's farmland.
We were pulling in the driveway after purchasing my first car and Brady asked if I wanted to walk with him down our driveway to "check the corn" as we were getting close to corn harvest. Little did I know he would get down on one knee and propose! A car and an engagement all in one day! We are so excited to spend forever together!
We started dating when I was 15 and he was 16. Yes, we are high school sweethearts! At the time, we have been together for almost 10 years.
We both work at the same place and have been working from home since March 2020. It was a huge adjustment, but we love it. With everything going on, Brian figured we needed to go on a little vacation. He was very persistent about it and I was not understanding why. So I kept putting it off. He talked about camping as a kid and wanted to do something similar to that. I am not fond of the outdoors so I continued to push it aside. Months go by and it's starting to get cool outside so I knew if we wanted to do something, it needed to be soon. I finally gave in and agreed to a trip up north to explore Duluth and the North Shore.
I'm one who can't leave the house without my nails being painted but since working from home, I wasn't leaving the house at all so for once I had bare nails. A few days before our trip, Brian made sure to remind me to do my nails. When I did my nails, I jokingly made the comment of "proposal ready nails" and he just laughed. Brian had bought a new camera a few months prior and I knew he would be taking it with us on this trip. He said that this place would be perfect to get practice shots. Little did I know, he bought one because he couldn't find a photographer that would be available.
We took October 1, 2020 off and headed to Duluth after work the night before. There was a full day of hikes ahead of us so we made sure we got enough sleep. We slept in and had a slow morning getting ready. We had brunch and our first stop was Tettegouche State Park. The majority of our day was spent here and we took a lot of pictures. I didn't think anything of it. The day goes by and it's starting to get dark. I decided last minute that I wanted to stop at Black Beach on our way back to the hotel. It's been a very popular spot lately. By this time we are exhausted but still soaking in all the views. We were taking the last of the pictures before the sun went down. I thought we were finally done so I start walking away, I realized Brian wasn't following me, so I turned around and there he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I have ever laid my eyes on. I was completely surprised. I felt like I blacked out. Everything happened so fast. I just remember being overly happy and saying yes. It was the best day of my life and this location will always be a special place. I cannot wait to marry my best friend and it was well worth the wait.
Andrew and I first met at work when I moved out to Washington and started as a float pharmacist. Our love story began pretty quickly after the first meeting and included: secret notes, different names in our phones (Serena and Brock), camping all around Washington, and dates as far away from work as possible. He was able to get me out of my comfort zone hiking (being from North Dakota there are only hills) and now we hike 2000 ft elevation change on a regular day hike. Fast forward 5 years and we moved to central Washington and now have 2 amazing Australian Shepherds, Walter and Theodore. Andrew’s first proposal plan was a fail. He planned a beautiful weekend at an Airbnb outside of Mount Rainer. We took the dogs on an evening stroll along a riverbank where he said we should set up the tripod and get a family picture at sunset. Unfortunately, Theodore decided to try to pick up a branch that had thorns on it and got one lodged in his gums. Moment ruined. At the time I had no idea that his plans were to propose. A few weeks later we decided to head on a hike and headed up into the mountains in search of some abandoned gold mines. By the time we got to the top, I was dying because he forgot to tell me the last part of the hike was straight up (imagine me having to scramble up using my hands to stabilize). After catching my breath and taking in the view he asked, “what is the one thing you want most right now?”, with my answer being a blackberry malt. Mind you I didn’t know an engagement ring was an option! But boy was I wrong and he was correct, being engaged was the thing I wanted most. I practically ran the whole way back so I could have service to call everyone. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us but I know it will include lots of adventures.
Walker and I met our first year at NDSU through a campus ministry. After a year of being just friends...and then a year of being "just friends"...we started dating. Almost two years later, he planned an extravagant date night for an "almost" surprise proposal (I was a little suspicious).
Oct.. 09, he came to pick me up and took me out to dinner. Then we drove to a park and walked down to a drawbridge crossing the Red River. At the edge of the bridge was a bouquet of flowers and tied along the railing of the bridge was love letters for each letter of my name. We walked across the bridge (our friends there taking pictures) and to the other side where he had a blanket laid out and knelt down and asked me to marry him. I said YES! He even planned a surprise party with friends and family after! Every detail was perfect, including the gorgeous ring!
Tucker and I have been dating for four years, and this past Christmas, he gifted me with a surprise trip to Italy and Ireland. I knew that a proposal was probably in the works, as we had already gone to Royal Jewelers and picked out a ring together. But I had no idea when he planned to ask.
We went to Rome first, and on our first night, we went on an amazing food and wine tour. Our guide led us through the streets of Rome, introducing us to a bunch of little mom and pop shops. We drank aperitifs in a little cafe, had cannoli from a tiny bakery, experienced fresh Italian pizza, tested cheeses in the backroom of a cheese shop, ate bruschetta and carbonara in an upscale restaurant, and finished the evening with what is rumored to be the best tiramisu in all of Italy. It was the perfect way to start our adventure.
On the way back to our hotel, we were crossing a bridge that leads up to the Castel Sant'Angelo when Tucker stopped me and looked out over the river. He looked back at me and told me he got me something. When I asked him what, in typical goofy Tucker fashion, he told me, "I bought you a pet rock." And then he got down on one knee and proposed. On a bridge. Next to a castle. IN ROME.
We had a blast celebrating our engagement and New Years in Rome, and then we moved on to Ireland, where we continued to celebrate a little while longer before returning to reality. It was truly the perfect adventure.
Casey and I had met while working together, I had invited him to a get together for my birthday and the rest was history! We clicked right away and I knew almost instantly that things would be great for us. Last summer after 3 years of being together we had setup a dinner for my birthday and invited both sets of our parents as we like to celebrate together. What I didn't expect was that after eating dinner our server came out with the sweetest treat.. my favorite dessert with the words "Will you marry me?" I turned around to find Casey on his knee with the most BEAUTIFUL ring I could have ever asked for. Through all the tears of happiness I said YES to marrying the man of my dreams, best birthday present I could dream of.
We met for the first time while attending a Barbell class at CrossFit Fergus Falls in the fall of 2018.
We were too shy to acknowledge each other at first, however, it wasn't long before Jesse's spunky and humorous personality caught Kristen's eye. We continued to participate in Barbell and CrossFit classes together amongst other friends over the next few months. Eventually, Kristen reached out to Jesse asking for a first date (who said girls can't make the first move) ;) and truly the rest is history.
Monday, April 8th 2019 was the day I never knew our lives would change forever. I had just finished coaching my last class of the evening at CrossFit. I proceeded to gather my things in the locker room before we walked each other out to say goodnight like we always have after class, however, this time was different. I came out of the locker room to find Jesse and our French Bulldog, Rogue waiting for me with Jesse on one knee. He began to tell me he had asked my Dad and Rogue for their permission and they both said yes and he asked the question every girl dreams of "Will you Marry Me?" and of course I said "YES!!"
We can't wait to build our future together!
Ryan: Jessica and I had been dating a little over 9 months when I realized I was ready to ask her to marry me. The problem then became getting a ring, as my realization came in April 2020, right in the full swing of COVID-19 shutdowns. Once Royal re-opened, I booked an appointment, bought the ring, and then waited again for the manufacturer to re-open. Meanwhile, the ribbing from friends and family for not having proposed yet was steadily increasing. It is not super easy to play it off when you know you have a ring coming. The ring arrived the day we were leaving to attend a family member's wedding, so another weekend of jesting had to be endured.
I finally picked the ring up, and was going to propose after dinner on Tuesday night. We would go for a walk, and I would pop the question somewhere along the way. Unfortunately, that night the power went out at my apartment, and all the plans had to change.
Jessica: It was a Thursday night in the early summer. We had eaten dinner downtown, then headed out on a walk along the river. We came to a fork in the path that led into the trees and followed it. We stopped, and Ryan gave me a hug, told me he loved me, and said that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I felt him reach into the penny pocket of his jeans as he began to get down on one knee. He held out a beautiful ring and asked me if I would marry him, and I said yes!
When we were on the way to dinner earlier that night, Ryan received a call from his grandpa and answered over his car's Bluetooth. During the call, his grandpa had referred to me as Ryan's fiancee--Ryan tried to play it cool, but wasn't terribly successful. I had thought the proposal would maybe be coming that weekend, but Ryan's facial expressions made me think that perhaps tonight was the night! Ryan's grandpa tipped me off, but the best part is that no one had tipped Ryan's grandpa off that we were getting engaged--he just thought it was about time!
One of the first things that Dan liked about me was that I wore carhartt all of the time. When we started dating, we had no photos with one another. So we decided to take a few photos in our carhartt. Being that it was summer time and all of the carhartt photos we had wear in our winter jackets. Dan insisted we take summer photos.
So on the morning of August 11th, Dan brought me to one of the cornfields he planted. We took a few photos and then Dan asked if we should just take engagement photos. I was completely clueless as to what he was getting at and then he knelt down and asked me to be his wife! And of course, I said yes!
My mind was made up. I had the ring, and now, I was increasingly preoccupied with all the ideas I had for proposing, ranging from memorable National Park destinations with amazing views to elaborate dinner dates. I had come up with so many different scenarios it was adding to the natural stress of the situation and still none seemed to feel right for us. I’m sure that in time we will have many memories involving travels and dinner dates of all kinds where something about the surroundings is what makes it memorable but for now I was looking for the scenario that would just fall together almost on it’s own and present itself in such a way that the notable detail would be how we just enjoyed each other’s company. Well, that scenario did fall into place, confirmed by the fact that when we both recount that day, it has all the necessary elements‒ anticipation, laughter, ample time together, atmosphere, and a bit of surprise all within what was a seemingly normal day together.
As our dating anniversary approached, I knew what I wanted to accomplish. We hadn’t made any plans yet for the occasion but I knew she would be asking soon. The only problem, as of that point, no plan yet. I did know that I wanted it to seem like a casual weekend so whatever it was I needed to just‒ not act weird. I heard on the radio that snow was forecasted for the weekend, and suddenly, I was settled. We both love the winter season, in such a short time with very little difficulty, the scenario began to present itself. What better way to enjoy a snowy day together than to get engaged. I volunteered the idea that we should make a dedicated effort to take pictures while it snowed. Sophie of course loved the idea because it was something we’ve been meaning to do for a while. We spent the day thinking and looking around town for such picturesque places. Her family was with us the whole day. Her family is very close and it definitely added to the day for all of us.. It was the right move to include them for this day; I knew that. I was of course obsessively checking the forecast, adamant we were gonna wait until it started snowing. It was perfect timing. I was ready with the ring safely in my pocket. She just finished getting ready and big perfect snowflakes began to fall. We were both so happy and excited.
We went to four different areas around town taking different pictures together over the course of a few hours that seemed like much less, maybe an hour. Sophie is the 3rd generation to grow up in Grand Forks so everywhere we went her parents pointed out different places, shared interesting facts, family history and stories. From the very start it was uniquely exciting and memorable. Every place we visited would’ve been suitable for proposing but I waited. At this point the snow was really starting to accumulate and we were all a little bit cold. So it had to be time. I couldn’t let it “play out” any longer. The last spot we went to had extra significance, as it turned out. It was along the river’s edge overlooking the area where her parents had lived in their first house, in a neighborhood that’s now a park because the area was lost to the flood. It has sentimental significance to them and certainly added a unique element. I must admit, that was not planned into the day like it played out. We couldn’t have asked for a better day; the whole day spontaneously became a perfect fit for us with really no detailed planning other than I wanted to propose while it was snowing and in her hometown. Anyway, getting cold, I requested one last picture and just as we were posing and trying to smile nice, I turned to face her and said “ok this picture is gonna be different.” I’ll never forget how her facial expression instantly turned so serious‒ we laugh about it still. I got down on one knee and finally, after checking repeatedly all day long that the ring was still in my pocket, I held it up and asked her to marry me. 3.15.2020.
Big thanks to Royal Jewelers, they did an amazing job helping me to create the perfect ring!
Tyler and I originally met at Concordia College through the Education Program-- we are now both first grade teachers in the community!
On June 21st, 2019 we had plans to go to Tyler's family cabin for the weekend-- a place we love to spend time at during the summer months. When we got there, Tyler asked me to go for a walk down by the lake. As we were looking out at the water, Tyler got down on one knee and proposed! As I turned around, I saw both of our families out on the deck cheering. Our dogs came running out and were the first to congratulate us on our engagement! We went out to dinner and I was met with yet another surprised-- Tyler had invited even MORE of our closest friends and family to celebrate with us! They were all cheering, smiling, and ready for hugs as we walked in! We had an incredible weekend sharing our love with our loved ones .
Josh has always been impressed with the friendly, experienced and professional staff at Royals Jewelers. He's had such great interactions with them in the past that he decided that's the place he wanted to purchase my engagement ring from. I've had a vision of what I wanted my engagement ring to look like for a long time, and Josh and the staff at Royal Jewelers got the perfect ring, better than I imagined.
Josh and I met during our freshman year of college right after winter break. We wanted to go ice skating for our first date, but winters in Fargo never cooperate, and it turned out to be -20 degrees outside. Instead, we decided to go see a scary movie (Bye Bye Man) on Friday, January 13, 2017. We eventually got to go ice skating for our second date two days later, where we had an instant connection. We talked for hours and I have never met a more genuine person than Josh. Friday the 13th ended up being a special day for us, and Fridays, in general, became "our day". After a few years of dating, Josh planned a special night out with me, and my two best friends Mason and Ashley on Friday, February 28, 2020. He wanted to walk around downtown Fargo's Island Park and then go out to eat at our favorite restaurant. While we were walking through Island Park, he brought me up to the gazebo and asked my friend Mason to take some pictures of us. While Mason was taking pictures, Josh got down on one knee and proposed! I literally jumped up and down with excitement because I am so eager to marry the love of my life. Our first date was on a Friday, Josh proposed on a Friday, and now we will be getting married on a Friday. I can't wait to see what our future holds as husband and wife.
I first met Nathan through the company we work for. Never for a second did I think we would end up being engaged just a few years later. For months he tried to get me to go on a date with him and luckily one day I caved, and I have never looked back.
Our story is a little different in that we got engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nathan travels to the Northeast for work, so his original plan was to come home a day early to surprise me with his proposal. Sadly, he was forced to come home early in March due to COVID-19 spreading quickly in Boston and New York, so his plan ended up being delayed with hopes he could incorporate it into his next trip. Well, his next trip didn’t end up happening and our company asked us to work from home for the next couple of months.
After a few weeks at being stuck together at home, Nathan grew tired of waiting. On April 27th, he decided to purpose doing our favorite thing: making a homemade dinner (he’s quite the little chef!), watching movies and snuggling our dogs.
Nathan asked me to take the dogs out while he was making dinner and when I came back inside I found him on one knee in our kitchen. As a little family, during our quarantine, I said ‘yes’ and I couldn’t have asked for a more prefect proposal!
Lane & I share a love for ice skating. It has been our favorite winter thing to do together ever since we met.
On February 1st, 2020, Lane invited me to go skating for the afternoon. I wasn't suspicious -- ice skating was something we did at least 3 times a week. I agreed, and we went to the downtown mini rink, a rink we'd never been to before.
I was surprised at this choice -- there isn't much room to skate on that tiny rink. But I went with it. Sometimes he has crazy ideas. After about an hour & a half, I was ready to go home. My toes were frozen. My ankles were tired. I'd had enough for the day. (I didn't know he was waiting for the rink to clear!)
When we were finally alone on the rink, Lane asked if he could "tell me something." He told me why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He so sweetly told me that he loves me for the first time (we were saving our "I Love You"s for engagement). Then he got down on one knee in his hockey skates, opened up a royal blue ring box, and asked me to marry him with the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. It was the easiest "yes" of my life. I am so excited to marry this man!
March 15, 2019 started out like any other Friday. After working all day and picking up our sweet Basset Hound, Gus from daycare, I arrived at our apartment. When I opened the door, I immediately saw pictures of our entire three year relationship covering the walls of our apartment. There were candles lit and music playing. Tim even set up a little treat station for Gus to keep him occupied during the proposal. After looking at all the pictures on my way to the bedroom, I opened the door to find Tim down on one knee and he asked me to marry him. I was so shocked and surprised that I completely threw off the entire speech he had prepared. It was such a sweet and special moment with just the two of us. We had already planned dinner out with friends that night and since it was early, Tim convinced me to wait and call our family and friends until after dinner. I reluctantly agreed and got ready to go to dinner at Rhombus Guys (which should have been a clue since it's where we had our first date). When we arrived, I was completely shocked to be greeted by 20 of our close family members and friends, including my sister that Tim flew in from Arizona to help celebrate our big day. It was exactly as I had pictured it as I had always wanted to tell all of my family in person that I was getting married! It was the most amazing day and I can't wait to spend our wedding day and the rest of our lives together!
April 24, 2018, that is the day that changed my world forever. Misty and I were introduced through a mutual friend thinking that we could be a good fit. In this friends words, "Misty is just the best person I know". She was right. Our conversation started out as messages back and forth that turned into a 3 hour phone conversation that night. That same conversation happened every night until May 9th. That was the night of our first date. I remember being so nervous. Butterflies made it hard to breath. Then she walked in the door. I felt like a lightning bolt went right through me. This beautiful woman, that I had learned so much about in the previous weeks, was here right in front of me! We weren't 5 minutes into the date and I had to kiss her. It was all I could think about. I knew from the first moment I laid eyes on her that she was the one. We spent the next 12 months spending as much time with each other as possible. Our kids get a long great. It just works wonderfully.
In April of 2019, we decided to take a trip to Orlando, FL to take our kids to Busch Gardens and Sea World. It would be over our 1 year anniversary. What she didn't know is that I had made plans for a evening neither of us would soon forget. I arranged for a sitter to stay with our kids over night. We left the Hotel about noon. The only information I gave her was the street address of our next location. Lunch at a fantastic sushi spot, followed by a couples massage. The next location was our new hotel. From there, a black car to Charley's Steakhouse. I had made arrangements with the manager of the restaurant and was delighted that everything was ready when we got there. A table of our own in our own section. Orchids lined the table. We had a fantastic bottle of wine and even better meal. When it came time for desert, the waiter said he had a surprise for us. When he came out, he asked Misty to close her eyes. He lit the candle on the salted caramel cheesecake and placed it in front of her. When he asked her to open her eyes, there in front of her were the words "Misty, will you marry me?" To her right, me, on one knee. I told her that "I have never loved anyone as much as I do her and the last year has been the greatest of my life. I want to share our lives together until the end. Please, marry me and make me the happiest man that ever lived!" She said YES!
Lukas and I met back in high school when a mutual friend of ours convinced us to go to my senior prom together. We got along great and became best friends that following summer. We then headed off to different colleges but continued to stay close. Over one of our breaks at school we both went home and on February 5th, 2016 we started dating.
Fast forward a few years and we were heading out to New York for Thanksgiving to visit Lukas's little brother in college. On November 30th, 2019 when we were down there Lukas planned a day for just the two of us. We spent the day exploring the city and then that night he planned a helicopter tour for us. We flew over the statue of liberty, saw the skyline, and were admiring the sites from the sky. When we were preparing to land Lukas popped the question and it was a complete surprise! We couldn't really hear well on the helicopter but I kept shaking my head yes and I can't wait to start our future together!
We had just returned after a long 4-day weekend camping trip down in Shade Hill, SD with Adam's family and were fairly tired from the journey home. While unpacking, Adam suggested we go out and have a "country" date night. He said, "I know it's been a long weekend and we haven't spent much time alone this weekend, so how about we go out in the country, bring some wine and go have a picnic on the bed of my pick up and watch the sunset." I had the faintest thought that he was going to propose, but quickly pushed it aside. When getting ready to go, he had picked out a nice outfit and here I was just going to wear jeans and a flannel shirt. So I changed into a dress, again not at all thinking he was going to propose!
We get out to the field and park the pickup, trying to hurry as the sun was beginning to set. I sat down and Adam was still standing awkwardly alongside of the pickup and I said, "why don't you come sit down so we can enjoy this together?" He looked so nervous now looking back! Finally, he made his way toward me and suddenly faced me saying, "Jessica, you make me the happiest man in the world and I would cherish the opportunity to try and make you half as happy as you make me. You are the love of my life, I love you with all of my heart, and will continue to do so forever. Jessica, will you marry me?" I started to cry and jumped down into his arms, not able to let go. He pulled back slightly and said, "Is that a yes?!" I hadn't even realized I didn't answer him. So, I said YES! Of course, I will marry you!
Nick and I were set up by mutual friends three years ago on a blind date. After a litter persuasion on his part, we started dating and shortly became inseparable!
We planned a day trip to go Itasca, which is our favorite spot to spend the day hiking and biking. On one of our very first dates, Nick carved our names into a tree along our favorite trail. Every time we have visited since we put a tally mark under our names. After carving our latest tally he got down on one knee and of course, I said YES.
We both look forward to what is to come after we say "I Do" next August. Turns out blind dates really do work!
It started in September 2014 when Chris showed up at my apartment in Grand Forks as a surprise for my birthday (the 21st) and offered to bring me to the lake and Rainbow Resort that weekend and meet some of his family. There, outside a cute little cabin under starlight, he asked me to be his girlfriend officially.
Fast forward to September 2017 to a misty fall Sunday. Days prior we had agreed to go hiking at Rainbow Resort for my birthday. Chris was uncharacteristically quiet but I figured he was just enjoying the fall atmosphere. Little did I know, he had planned our hike to end at the cabin where he asked me to be his girlfriend three years before. When we emerged from the woods and I saw the cabin I recognized it right away and mentioned that I remembered that's where we started our relationship. Chris responded, "Funny you should say that..." and got down on one knee.
I wish I could remember all of what he said to me, but the blood was rushing in my ears so loud that I don't think I heard him anyways. When he pulled out the ring and I saw that beautiful emerald I nearly fainted. Of course, I said yes - there was never any other option.
Chris is a genuinely special human being and I knew pretty early on in our relationship that I wanted to marry him. Life is exciting with him in it and I honestly feel like we bring out the best in each other. Not only am I getting an amazing husband, but I have a best friend for life.
We were visiting my brother in Hawaii when Nolan asked me to spend forever with him. In preparation for our big trip, my brother had asked what type of hike we would like to go on during our stay. We of course opted into the hike that featured a beautiful waterfall at the end.
Upon descending the waterfall and gathering our stuff to head back to the car, Nolan suggested we take one more picture. I thought this was a bit out of the ordinary considering he normally hates taking pictures, but I couldn't pass up getting the most out of the gorgeous backdrop. When I went to wrap my arm around him, I noticed Nolan was bending down so I reach for him. That's when I realized he was down on one knee. I was ecstatic and said "yes, of course" and just like that we were engaged!
It all started with horses. I met one of my very best friends through our mutual admiration and love for horses and our hobby of horseback riding. Towards the end of the summer in 2010, knowing the horseback riding days were coming to an end for the season, and knowing we often didn't see our "horse buddies" during the school year, my friend invited me to come to dances with her at her High School. At the first dance of the school year- Homecoming- on October 2nd, 2010, she set me up to slow dance with a few of her guy friends; one of them being Noah. When the dance was over, Noah was the one guy that asked for my cell phone number; and this is where our story began.
Over the course of 7 years, we spent our time together cheering each other on in our sporting events, watching football together on Sundays, enjoying outdoor activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling, going bowling, traveling (to places such as Florida, Arizona, England, and France), and many dinner and a movie dates.
The beginning of our next chapter started with horses as well. Noah- who is not as fond of horses as myself, asked to tag along to one of my barrel races at my home arena in Breckenridge, Minnesota. As I was finishing running the barrel pattern on my horse- Boone- I cross the timeline to see Noah, down on one knee. We shared a very special conversation that ended with Noah asking me, "Will you marry me?" I happily replied, "YES!" It was hands down the happiest day of my life, and I am so happy Noah invited so many of our loved ones to share the day with us.
We were in Virginia Beach, VA visiting Caleb's family over the Christmas season. It was a Saturday and our first time heading to the beach. We drove separately to accommodate everyone. His oldest sister got to the beach earlier than us and was there when we arrived (she actually hid the ring box in the sand & marked it).
We were walking on the beach admiring the view and enjoying the weather; suddenly, Caleb pretended to "trip" on a pencil as we were walking. He got down and started digging and "found" a Ziploc bag with a box in it. He acted like he had no idea what it was, proceeded to open the bag and the first box. It wasn't until that point that I realized it was a ring box. He took the second box, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. We are excited to begin our lives together and get married in June!
After church on Easter morning, Bryant surprised me with an "Easter basket" filled with all my favorite things. Among the treats was a beautiful Bible with my first name paired with his last name engraved in gold lettering on the cover. As I was admiring it, Bryant got down on one knee and proposed with the ring. Not the Easter morning I was expecting!!

Matt has taken me on adventures since I first met him, so when he suggested we go on a spontaneous trip to Aspen I was all for it. Neither one of us had seen the Maroon Bells, the most iconic pair of mountains in Colorado. We left early Friday morning, and the 4 hour drive was beautiful.
Because the weekend forecast had turned stormy, we went straight to the Bells to get pictures before the clouds rolled in. We hiked to the first lake and got a great family picture – me, Matt, and his dog Allie. We hiked past the second lake and started running into snow on the trail on the way to the third lake. Off the trail we went, and Matt was showing me how to pick out landmarks to find our way back. We had a virtual reality camera with us that records 360 degree video, and Matt set it up on a log at the top of a hill where we started playing with it, seeing what we looked like from different angles.
I didn’t know it, but he had started recording a video. After telling me he loved me and a myriad of other sweet things, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I looked at the ring and exclaimed, “It’s so sparkly”! and said yes. Allie came back from exploring to celebrate with us, and we stood there for a bit, taking in the beautiful mountains and patches of snow that surrounded us.
Sometimes when girls grow up they think about their wedding day and future husband. That just wasn’t my reality. My reality was dreaming of helping those whom struggle with substance abuse.
However, as the years of failed relationships continued I questioned if finding my soul mate was in Gods plans. The years went on and single handedly I raised my son as I fulfilled my dream job. Life was good. Life was content.
What I did not know was God had much bigger plans for Emmytt and I. Plans they included Michael.
Although our love story starts with Bumble. Little did I know he lived across the street from my sons daycare or that we have mutual friends. From continuous dates or love blossomed. From his ability to always adore me for whom I am, his acceptance of my son and his adoration for me in his eyes lead to butterflies that developed into love. His willingness to accept my open door to helping others, genuine care for family and daughter his mother never had allows our relationship to exist smoothly.
Over the years, I have learned what true unconditional love is. A feeling that is hard to explain but minimal description of it just is what it is. We work. We are. We knew when we knew.
And we know, that forever we are.
On a hot Summer day, days before the Fourth of July (my favorite holiday) we took a hike up Inspiration Peak at the lake. A view of Minnesota, the beautiful lakes and a memorial walk. At the top, he asked for my hand in marriage.
As my son said minutes after we got engaged, “we are going to be a family!!”
After being together for three and a half years, Alex decided to surprise me by proposing to me over Labor Day weekend. Alex had to work that day and I was out of town for the day so when I came back into town we grabbed something to eat for supper and went to his house. When I got to his house the patio had lights, a fire, and roses. He proposed to me in his backyard on a gorgeous Saturday evening as the sun was setting. He even had his aunt, who is a photographer, catch all the action. We cannot wait to get married October of 2019!
Colby and I had been dating for eight years prior to our engagement, and I was beginning to think that we were never going to get engaged, much less married. The extended time only added to my complete surprise when he had finally asked me to marry him!
The weekend before heading home for the holidays I had planned to get my hair cut and colored. Prior to leaving for my appointment; however, I had asked my now fiancé, Colby, if he would like to go downtown afterwards for supper. Little did I know, I had initiated the first step into the night that forever will change my life.
Lucky for us, Colby worked downtown near Island Park in Fargo, and per his suggestion, to avoid "limited parking", we parked at his work even though it was multiple blocks away from where we planned to eat. The walk was cold, but we enjoyed our warm meal at a nice restaurant. As we were about to leave, and after we payed for our tab, I noticed Colby's watch notifying him of a high heart rate. He shrugged it off and told me not to worry - a "technical problem" he said. I was clueless.
We started our walk back to our vehicle, and Colby insisted that we detour through Island Park. With a lot of coaxing on his part, I finally gave in and we walked through the dark, tree-lined park. As we approached the gazebo within the park, I noticed that it was lit up so pretty within the snow. We got a little closer, and I began to see rose petals lining the path with candles sitting in an array on the gazebo steps.
At that time, I didn't know if my life was about to change, or if Colby was unintentionally ruining some other girls wonderful moment, haha! Everything from here happened so quickly. By the time I reached the steps, I also saw a card with my name on it. I began to open it, and at that time, Colby was down on one knee. With much excitement, I said yes!!!
We are currently planning our wedding, and will be excitedly married December 28th, 2018!!
Sanders and I have been dating ever since the middle of high school, and we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together! This past July, Sanders and I spent a beautiful Saturday together, enjoying downtown Fargo, visiting some of our favorite places, and ending the day with a picnic at Island Park. When I went to grab plates and cups out of the picnic basket, I found a stack of letters with my name on them on top - Sanders had written over 45 letters in the couple months leading up to the engagement! Each one was so sweet, capturing his thoughts as he was picking out a ring, asking my parents for my hand, and reminiscing about some of his favorite memories of our relationship. The top letter was meant for me to read first, and afterward he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! We can't wait for next June when we both say "I do" and start our life together!
We were heading back to Brady’s hometown to visit family one night and had a long drive ahead of us. Along the way, Brady suggested that we stop along the way to look at the stars because it was such a clear night. I had been looking forward to seeing the stars, so I agreed.
We pulled up to a lake near his hometown and once out of the car, I immediately looked up to the sky, commenting on how pretty it was and how clear the sky really was. Brady came around the car and got down on one knee, saying he had to tie his shoe. When I looked at him he asked me to marry him while holding up a ring. Overwhelmed with emotion, I, of course, said yes.
Travis and I had been dating for a little over two years when we got engaged. Right before the holidays, I came home from work one night to a candle lit dinner and music. After dinner, Travis asked if I wanted to grab a drink downtown.
After we had a drink, we walked through Island Park. It was the same week as Christmas, so all of the big trees were lit up, and snow was softly falling. Travis got down on knee, and asked me to marry him in the park. Of course, I said yes! We are getting married this fall in our favorite spot, downtown Fargo. We can't wait to take this step together, and for what the future hold
Cayne and I love to travel. We were headed back to California for a nice break from Midwest winters with my family. Cayne knew California has always been my favorite state to visit, and where my favorite band is from. It was the last day of our trip and we were near the Redondo Beach area enjoying the views up on a cliff that over looks the ocean. We walked into a cute little gazebo, I later found out my family was in on the plan so my sister went in there and told everyone in the gazebo ahead of us to get out so we would be alone :)
We were looking at the ocean, little did I know my family had a video set up as well! I looked next to me at Cayne and he got down one one knee. Of course I said yes to my best friend, and he had the exact ring I said I fell in love with! I was in my favorite place, with my favorite person, with a ring I am still obsessed with every time I see it. Royal Jewelers was by far the best place we got to work with in town. It was important to Cayne and I that we worked with someone who listened to us and our wishes, answered any and all of our questions, and had the high quality we were looking for.
Devin is from Massachusetts but came to college at NDSU. He joined FarmHouse which was the same fraternity Brenna's brother was in. Brenna's brother Taylor introduced them when they were freshmen in college. After dating for two years, Devin started looking for a ring.
His family came from out east to visit his grandparents over the fourth of July. After supper that night, Devin took Brenna for a pontoon ride. He had made a canvas with pictures of the two of them. In the middle of the canvas it said "When you find the one you want to spend forever with, forever can't come soon enough." After giving Brenna the canvas, he got down on one knee and Brenna said yes!
"Amber and Patrick met in hip hop dance class at the University of North Dakota. They started dating after the hip hop class ended in the fall of 2013. They dated for 4 years before Patrick popped the question.
The week prior to their engagement, Patrick drove out to Ambers hometown in Western North Dakota to see her parents. This was extremely difficult to time since Patrick wanted to ask Amber’s parents if he could be part of their family when she wasn’t there. The week before their engagement Patrick got his opportunity; Amber was going on a quick trip and would be gone for the weekend. Patrick was able to ask if he could be a part of the Nielsen household and was welcomed by Amber’s parents.
There was only one more question to ask, and it all came down to when and where. Patrick had plans to replay their first date and propose to Amber at the end of the night. However, the ambience wasn’t right that night, and Patrick decided to delay the proposal.
Patrick had the wonderful idea to propose the next morning at the Greenway in Grand Forks. Throughout their time at UND, the Greenway had been a place for relaxation. Due to nerves, Patrick woke up an hour before Amber and started cooking chili. Amber finally woke up at 5:30, and they were on their way to watch the sunrise. Patrick had Amber face the sunrise while taking her picture. As Amber was facing the sunrise, Patrick couldn’t get the ring out of his pocket, so he started counting to three. Finally, as he said three, he was able to get the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. He asked her to turn around and popped the question. She said yes!"
CJ and I met 6 years ago when he was stationed in Las Vegas while in the Air Force and I was on a girls trip! He had known two of my girlfriends from High School and decided to join us for a pool day while we were there. From that first day meeting we both knew something big was going to happen between us. Fast forward 6 years, lots of changes with moving, starting and finishing school, and moving in together… we decided to take a weekend trip up to Two Harbors, MN and stay in a tiny cabin on the shore.
On our drive up there CJ had suggested we go to Split Rock Lighthouse first before checking into the cabin. I told him it wasn’t a good idea and we should check in first on our way, and then drive up to the lighthouse so we wouldn’t have to backtrack. He insisted we go to the lighthouse first and after some back and forth I gave in not understanding his urgency. We arrived, parked the car, and started our walk to the lighthouse. In the past I had told CJ multiple stories from my childhood about visiting this place with my family and how many memories I had at this lighthouse. This place was my happy place. As we were standing above the cliff watching the waves crashing on a FREEZING cold day in March the man I loved got down on one knee and asked me to be his Wife. I said YES!” -Karly
Andrew and I dated semi-long distance for nearly 2 years. While I was living in Detroit Lakes and he in Fargo, we managed to see each other nearly every day despite both working full-time and I was completing my Master's degree. Unbeknownst to me, Andrew took my parents out for lunch to ask their permission in May of 2017. Knowing how busy and stressed I was finishing my final projects, Andrew promised my parents he'd wait until I finished school. He kept that promise, getting down on one knee on the lawn of the University of North Dakota only 10 minutes after I received my diploma. I was in complete shock, crying and finally understood why he'd been acting so strange all day long. Andrew planned the perfect proposal, inviting my parents and sister to be involved.
The cherry on top of this perfect day came that evening. We'd planned a graduation party and invited some friends and family. I was initially really shocked at the amount of people who were driving hours to spend their Friday evening celebrating my graduate school graduation. It turns out that they were all aware of Andrew's proposal plans and we got to celebrate my graduation and engagement in the same weekend!
Amanda and I had been together only a couple months when we both decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Before we approached our nine-month dating anniversary we had already talked about getting married and I was hoping I could propose on that day, but I unfortunately procrastinated in ordering the ring and I didn’t get it on time. Neither of us are fans of traditional white diamonds so I was able to order a custom-made ring with a teal-colored blue diamond that was the favorite color of us both. The ring came in that following week, however, and I didn’t waste any time in proposing the next weekend. I took Amanda out to my family farm for the weekend and I told her I wanted to have a sunrise breakfast with her on Sunday morning. We woke up around 6am on Sunday and I took her to a hilly grassland where my great-great-grandparents settled when they came to America (Our attached picture is us at the grassland). It was after having breakfast, we were talking and I hugged her, told her I want to spend the rest of my life with her, stepped back and popped the question. She immediately said yes. She was completely surprised because I led her to believe I hadn’t even ordered a ring yet; plus, who proposes at 7:20 on a Sunday morning? Something I didn’t expect is that the hour following the proposal, we must have pulled a dozen ticks off of ourselves from that grassland.
Although keeping secrets isn't Tyler's best asset, he did an amazing job keeping the journey to finding the perfect ring from me. He said he went to over 10 jewelers before he found this ring at Royal Jewelers for me. It wasn't until a few weeks later that he received the ring. Knowing that ring was going to be in his possession he started to set a plan in place so he didn't have to keep the secret any longer than necessary.
I live with a roommate and the three of us just end up doing everything together. I had originally planned for the three of us to take mine and my roommate's dogs for a bike ride. When I had returned home from work after 7 I had expected supper to be ready, but it wasn't. So I offered to make chicken for the three of us, but my roommate declined. As Tyler and I were eating my roommate just got up and started to leave. As she was leaving I asked her where she was going and she explained that she had gotten called into work. I thought that was a little odd, but it was okay with me because I wasn't really all that interested in going for a bike ride anymore. However, Tyler was adamant on going. As we were leaving the garage Tyler tried to grab the ball for the dogs thinking we would stop partway through our bike ride, but I declined and said we would just let the dogs run in hopes that we would return home sooner. Lucky for Tyler I still took our usual bike route rather than a shorter option. As we were nearing the park bench that we usually stop at with the dogs for play time Tyler claimed to have a cramp in his leg. I thought this was odd because we had only gone a mile and a half, and I started to make fun of him. I asked if he was embarrassed for getting a leg cramp from riding bike. He said no. All of a sudden he started grabbing at his pocket and saying sincere words. At that point I started to realize what was going on! I was completely surprised and I of course said yes! A perfect way to kick off summer!
Taylor likes to know everything, and if something seems off, she will investigate. On her birthday weekend we planned on going to a Twins game in the cities. We were going to meet her parents and the rest of my family on Saturday and go to the game on Sunday. I messaged her mom on Facebook and asked her if they wanted to come to Fargo on Friday for a birthday dinner with their twins (Taylor has a twin brother). She told me that it sounded like a good idea. Surprise One was set, at least until Taylor called her parents... She deduced that something was up, because that is what she does. Her parents arrived before Taylor as planned. We chatted for a bit. After a while I worked up the courage to ask for their only daughter's hand. Time felt like it passed more slowly than it probably did, but I finally heard an "Absolutely" from her dad. I showed them the ring after we shook hands and hugged, then I told them my plan. Before calling it a night I suggested we do a mini road trip inside of our big one to the cities. (I told her parents to play along) My family had gone to Itasca a few weekends before and I was not around. Since none of us have been there before, I suggested we add it to our route. The weather and scenery could not have been more perfect. We looked around, read some history, and finally started down the trail to the headwaters. Stopping at a bridge, I gave Taylor one of her birthday cards. The card rhymed, it was a poem. I told her poems were the theme for the weekend. We continued down the path and finally got to the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Once we took in the gorgeous view, we walked a little further down river to another bridge. I asked Taylor if she was ready for her second poem. Before she could answer yes or no, I pulled out a poem I wrote. Surprise Two seemed to work a little better. To save you from reading more, it finished like this:
As I ask on bended knee
Taylor, will you marry me?
She said yes.
Sunday morning started out the same as many mornings living above the Watford City Veterinary Clinic. Mike had taken Rose out to the bathroom and Ruben and I were still being cozy in bed. Mike came back upstairs and told me Rose had eaten some wire nuts. I didn't know what those were, so I asked him, and he pulled a couple out of his pocket. Darn it! She wasn't going to pass those. I told Mike there was hydrogen peroxide under the bathroom sink and he could induce vomiting on his own as I was being cozy. Mike pressed harder that wasn't there a shot at this clinic that we could give her? Reluctantly I admitted that yes, this clinic had apomorphine. Downstairs we went, Rose, Ruben, Mike and me. To say I was less than impressed would be an understatement. Once we reached the bottom of the stairs I asked Mike to go and weigh Rose while I turned on the x-ray machine. I was further irritated when Mike did not indeed go and weigh Rose but stood there. I grabbed the computer mouse and the screen turned on. A dog in lateral with what appeared to be a ring in the stomach and several other foreign bodies appeared. I briefly thought to myself "that's a nice ring" as the band showed up but not the diamond. Real diamonds don't show up on x-rays. I also was feeling very sorry for Dr. Mark Foster as he was on call this weekend and had already done a cystotomy and FB surgery. I glanced over my shoulder and Mike was down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and I just couldn't believe it.
The evening before Mike and I had gone out to eat with Mark and his wife Brandi. Brandi had recently found out she was pregnant and so we were celebrating. I jokingly had mentioned it could be an engagement party too, but Mike refused to ask me. Little did I know that morning Mike had asked Mark to help him take an x-ray the next morning to propose to me. Sunday morning Mike had waited for Mark to get to the clinic and they had x-rayed Rose together. Rose did not really eat my ring, they had laid it on her side. But she did at some point eat some things suspicious of rocks and/or wire.
Since Daniela and I had met, I knew she would be the once I would spend my life with. I wanted to surprise her but since we live together I had quite the challenge in front of me. I wanted until she had a good friend coming to town that I knew I could trust to help me out. When the day came, after some coordination, I was "at work" and she was with her friend. I had everything set up by the pier on the Red River, it was a place I used to go to think and special to me, I had her friend bring Daniela to meet me. Unbeknownst to her, I also had a photographer hiding in the trees to document the momentous even in our lives. She said YES and accepted the beautiful ring I bought through Royal Jewelers. It would not have been possible without their incredible staff.
Our story is not traditional as most. On our first date I broke my foot at the street fair and was positive I would never see Matthew again. Instead, Matthew spent every day with me as I healed. After many jokes from myself about going ring shopping one day after the routine joke Matthew said "sure". Within two weeks the perfect ring was found at Royal Jewelers and the wait was on for it to come in. After many days of trying to pry information out of Matthew he managed to pick up the ring without me knowing. Shortly after coming home from work after a trying day for both of us, Matthew approached me and asked if I still loved him. After saying yes, he then asked "How much do you love me?" and presented me the ring. I obviously said yes and it took no time for us to call our family and friends to let them know the news.
"David and I planned a weekend getaway camping in Rocky Mountain National Park. We woke up Saturday to clear blue skies and beautiful weather. David made me breakfast over the fire before a great 13 mile hike alongside alpine lakes and scenic vistas. We had such a great day hiking and laughing together. Once back at our campsite, we changed clothes made our way to Sprague Lake to watch the sunset over a glass of wine. The sunset was as perfect as the sunrise earlier in the day with clear blue skies. Just as I sat down on a bench to rest my legs after a long day hiking, David, acting somewhat strange, took my hand and started leading me up a small hill. I was so confused because as we were walking, I saw a photographer moving from behind a rock. David just smiled and kept leading me up the hill. We reached an area where a blanket was laid out with pictures of us, candles, roses, champagne and champagne flutes that had been engraved with our names, date, and location. David got down on one knee and asked me to marry him as Taylor and Mike, our fantastic husband and wife photography team, captured the best moment of our life!"
"Tony and I have been together for a little over six years when he decided to pop the question! He surprised me with a trip to Rome, Italy in May. The whole time we were there walking around the city, Tony had the ring in his pocket just waiting for the right moment to ask me. On our second to last night, we went to dinner at Villa Miani which over looked the city of Rome. After dinner Tony said let's go to the roof top to enjoy the views. There, on top of the roof top terrace with Rome's beautiful lights and the Vatican's Basicilla Church in the background, Tony got on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes!! It was an amazing moment that I will never forget!"
"Jack and I took a much-needed vacation after I graduated my program and passed my board exam. We headed out from Minnesota to Montana to do some hiking, rafting, touring, and horseback riding. We had been together for a while so I had a feeling a proposal was coming on this trip. Some unexpected and untimely snow delayed our hiking trip until the last day of our vacation, but we made it out to the gorgeous trail right after a rain shower. The further we hiked, the more anticipation and excitement I felt. However, before I knew it we were back at the car- the hike was over, and there was no proposal. I felt disappointed, but tried hard to dismiss it because I really did have a fantastic time simply hiking with my best friend.
After drinking some water and checking his phone Jack suggested we check out a side trail that we missed. Hope was restored! We passed a few hikers on this trail that were taking photos of the beautiful scenery. Suddenly, Jack stopped to turn around to look at me. With a huge grin on his face, he got down on one knee and asked if I’d marry him with the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen. And of course I said yes! It turns out Jack had hired a photographer for the occasion, and was trying to time it just right! I am so excited to marry my best friend!" - Jenna
"Eric picked Island Park in downtown Fargo to propose. Our favorite date nights are always spent downtown, and Island Park is such a beautiful setting in the Fall as the leaves were changing. What I thought was just a walk through the park turned out to be so much more as Eric went down on one knee. I loved how thoughtful he was in asking my dad's permission first and making sure to capture the moment with a photographer on site so that I would be able to cherish the moment and share it with my friends and family."
"Nick & I had been together for quite sometime prior to our proposal. We were long past the stage where everyone would ask when we were going to get engaged. About two years before Nick proposed we went ring shopping. While at Royal Jewelers, we found "the ring." It was perfect in every way. Nick spoke with Royal and chose the center stone. It even served as the screen saver on Nick's computer for a few months after the shopping trip. Then some time passed - days, months, years! When Nick finally decided the time was right to purchase the ring, he made his way back to Royal and "the ring," center stone and all was still waiting! Talk about meant to be.
Halfway through May of 2013, I was wrapped up in studying for the bar exam, and Nick had just started working a new job in Bismarck. We were doing a puzzle one evening (a typically rainy day activity for us). About 2/3 of the way through the puzzle, I said I was tired and was going to go to bed. Nick convinced me we were almost done with the puzzle and should just finish it. I thought it was kind of odd, since he is usually not so passionate about puzzles, but I reluctantly agreed. When we were wrapping up the puzzle, we realized there was one piece missing. I was annoyed - we just opened the puzzle that evening. I started to search under the couch cushions -thinking the piece couldn't have gone far. I turned around and Nick was down on one knee with the ring and missing puzzle piece! I instantly started crying - filled with emotion at the unexpected turn of events! Nick had a speech prepared which concluded with him asking me to fill the missing piece in his life and be his wife. I of course said YES. With shaky hands and a new piece of hardware, I put the last piece in the puzzle. We have that puzzle framed and hanging in our home today."
Jason and Natalie had both wanted to visit Nashville for as long as they could remember, so they finally decided to book a trip. The day of their trip they had 4 flight delays and a gate change. Unbeknownst to Natalie, Jason was planning to propose on their first night in town and had even hired a local photographer to capture the whole proposal! While Natalie was blissfully unaware, Jason was frantically texting and calling the photographer with every flight change. Almost 2 hours later than planned, Jason and Natalie landed in Nashville to pouring rain. Jason told Natalie she had 10 minutes to get ready and they had to go because it “was a super cool view that she had to see”. Their taxi pulled up to the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River with a view of downtown Nashville. Jason asked Natalie to turn around so he could a reenact a similar panoramic picture from a previous vacation in Las Vegas. While she was looking towards the downtown landscape, he got down on one knee, pulled the ring box out of his boot, and then told her to turn around. The rest is history!
Ben and I had headed to Florida for our first "real" vacation together. We spent 2 days in Miami and then we met up with his family on the 25th [of March]. After a long day of driving 3 hours to Marathon, all I wanted to do was go to a beach. So we all headed to the beach after supper. Ben had been keeping his eye out on the ocean and low and behold he saw some dolphins jumping out just off the shore a ways. So we all ran over to where we could see the dolphins a little better. Then Ben said 'Let's take a picture with the sunset, water and dolphins in the background.' I said "Okay, sure!" Then out of the corner of my eye I see this box in his hand and I turned to him as he was getting down on one knee and I said, 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING?' (I was very surprised) and he says, 'Will you marry me?' And of course all I could do was say, 'YES!
"On a family trip to Ixtapa, Mexico everyone was together eating at The Catalina. As the sun was starting to go down everyone taking pictures with one another, and as Kyrstin was looking out at the sunset Robie came up behind her and went down on one knee and proposed. Robie is quite the jokester, so Kyrstin’s first response was “Is this a joke? Are you serious?” As we all laughed and she finally realized it was real she jumped up and down in excitement and said yes. It was the perfect moment in the most beautiful and memorable destinations.
A year later, the couple, along with 60 friends and family came together where it all happened back in Ixtapa. Kyrstin and Robie were married on the incredible beach of Ixtapa. They danced the night away, and when it came time to do the bouquet toss Kyrstin was getting ready for a special surprise. As everyone counted to three, she turned around and handed the bouquet to Tannis. At that moment Tannis turned around and Jeremy was on his knee proposing.
"One night Jeremy and Tannis were at the same bar, and Jeremy was waiting for an MMA fight to start. They randomly caught each other’s attention and hit it off from there. They started spending more and more time together and fell deeply in love and started a family. They had a son, Silas together and he is the center of their world.
Tannis and Jeremy went to Kyrstin and Robie’s wedding in Ixtapa, and Silas was the ring bear. Jeremy had gotten so much positive feedback from Kyrstin about Royal Jewelers, even though he lives 3 hours away, worked with Kelsey at Royal Jewelers and designed Tannis the perfect ring. Jeremy knelt behind Tannis as Kyrstin was handing her the bouquet with his Royal Jeweler’s box open and ready. She was speechless and shocked; tears of joy were filled in everyone’s eyes. It was the perfect moment and their most memorable trip so far."
“Shannon and I had been together since 2012. She was such an amazing girlfriend I had no doubt in my mind that I wanted her to be my future wife. On a vacation to Marco Island this past March I told her I planned a photo shoot for us on the beach to celebrate our much needed vacation! But a few weeks prior to the vacation I told the photographer that I planned to propose and made sure he’d capture that perfect moment. And on the beach at sunset on March 29th, I got down on one knee and asked her to be with me forever. Through some happy and surprised tears, she said ‘YES!’” -Kirk
