Your girlfriend most likely has a Pinterest, and if you’re lucky she has a specific board for “My future wedding” or “Wedding Inspo.” Check there for ideas of the style of rings that catch her eye. They always say, “A good boyfriend will get her the ring he found on her Pinterest!”
2. Ask her sister
There is no doubt sisters talk about their dream weddings, future husbands, and most importantly what their ideal engagement ring would look like. Ask your girlfriend’s sister if she wants to accompany you shopping for the ring. Not only is it helpful getting a lady’s input, but having someone with who is basically an expert on your soon to be bride is extremely beneficial.

This can be tricky because you want to make sure her best friend isn’t going to get too excited and spill your secret early. But best friends can be just as insightful as a sister when it comes to your girlfriend’s style and preferences.
4. Ask her indirectly
Get the information you want straight from the source. Find creative ways to get her talking about her ring preferences. Perhaps show her a picture on instagram and casually say, “I don’t know if I like this ring. Do you think it’s cool?” Be subtle and calm about your questions and she’s bound to get talking about the subject without too much prompting.
5. Take her to a jewelry store
Tell her you need to get your watch tuned up or that you’re running an errand for your mother and getting her ring cleaned. In the down time while you wait, walk around and browse the engagement rings. See what catches her eye and what kinds of styles she points out the most.
